As much as I love to use creative inspiration to decorate my house, I do not take it seriously as some may think. I get so many ideas and greatly enjoy trying them. I love to redo a whole space with little to no money. Even when I’m in love with the finished product, I will likely leave it only for a time before I’m ready to try another idea. I guess you could say creative inspiration has led to an interior decorating hobby.

My true reason for starting this blog almost 7 years ago was (and is) to provide encouragement, but a few times I’ve included posts that I’ve placed in a category called Favorite Little Things. It is sometimes fun to be inspired or just entertained by what someone else has done with their ideas. Here are a few links to former Favorite Little Things posts, but don’t forget to keep scrolling to see the rest of this post after you click on these 😊:

I don’t like expensive or new things, typically. Thrifted items, garage sale items, side-of -the-road items with a FREE sign on them are what excite me! Changing something I already have by painting it or incorporating a different use with it is also what I love to do. So, here’s another little light-hearted post that might inspire even the smallest decorating touch. *I have a new blog post in the works called A New Song that is based on Psalm 40!

Years ago I purchased a box of one family’s collected post cards that dated back more than a century. I love history and I’m a hopeless romantic when it comes to reading between the lines. As we know, most post cards leave you wanting for more information, more detail. These are no different. I’ve created narratives in my mind in the four or five times I’ve pulled them out to pore over. I don’t know this family. Their trash became my treasure when I happened upon their estate sale.

They are still in the box in which I purchased them. There are probably between 150 and 175 in total!

There are a couple of ideas I have had for these cards, but I loved the idea to frame a few. I dug my box full of creative inspiration (post cards) out of the closet and selected a few favorites.

The top frame contains one of the old postcards placed in my entryway.

Here the chosen few are spread out on my dining room table.

Next I went to a few million stores (mostly thrift) to find frames. I came up empty. Thankfully, I had a few that worked well already, the rest I found at Hobby Lobby for next to nothing! I’ll share the finished product that is spread throughout different spaces in my home. I’ll include a closeup of the postcard and then how it looks in its larger space.

Hope this was fun to look at and not boring lol!

P.S. You may have noticed a new design for my blog. There are a few things I am still working on to get it to function at its best. Please bear with me in the meantime. 😊
