Fall at the Coast. The Northern Pacific Coast in autumn feels like a bridge between fast-paced summer with all its warmth and energy and endless days, and the slower, shorter days of cozy fall and sleepy winter. A heavy fog greets as a warm hug and you know the ocean draws near.

Fall at the Coast

Fall at the coast. Trees, redwood trees, GIANT trees, flowers, ferns, elk, birds, creeks and canyons.

Fall at the Coast

It was morning, and the sunbeams dazzled and defined every aspect of the canyon our eyes beheld.

There are always so many elk in the area! We had to stop and let them pass across the long, bumpy road to Gold Bluff Beach and Fern Canyon. I didn’t get any pictures of the elk, as I was driving and the road had near pond-sized mud puddles to traverse very carefully!

Looking straight up at an enormous wall in the canyon

The walk down Fern Canyon was the most fun. Its floor pooled with more water than we have seen before. We almost turned around upon entering because we didn’t want to get completely soaked (it was chilly). My husband found a large stick that served our precarious walks over logs and jumping from dry spot to sort-of-dry spot. It assisted and preserved our dry shoes, socks and clothing – well, almost.

He attempted a jump across the water from the end of a log to dry ground and missed by a long shot! Water SPLASHED in animated fashion. I wish so badly I had been recording when it happened. We could not stop laughing!

Fall at the Coast. Sunshine, vibrant blue skies and water, cool breezes, views forever, boats resting as dusk ushers in the darkness of night.

Fall at the Coast

As many of you have experienced, the beauty and grandness of God’s creation can take your breath away. We couldn’t absorb it all fast enough.

Fall at the coast. Time stands still. Fond memories surface and waves of gratitude spray refreshment over one’s soul. Creation glorifies the Creator and hope surges with renewed focus on what matters most.

We are experiencing this on the east coast. Although different, our brilliant Creature is the same. Thank you for your pictures and words. I felt like I was on a walk with you and oh, it was too brief.
