Look to the Light

Darkness seems to define our world in so many ways, so how do we look to the light? We need to know its Source.

Those of you who have done any gardening will understand my perspective. My first garden was around 27 years ago and it still never gets old or ordinary for me to witness the seed go into the soil only to grow into new and glorious life in the days, weeks and months that follow! I’ve never heard of any gardener (rookie or veteran) who doesn’t marvel at the miracle of life a garden produces. We rejoice over those first little miraculous sprouts!

Gardens will not thrive or even survive at all if there is not enough light. It’s the most important thing to consider when planning where to locate a garden: their proximity to the light – no light, no life.

My favorite plants are the ones who lean toward the sun. It’s almost comical how obvious they are to grasp for the light. They instinctively know their source of life.

A New Song

How Precious

Jesus is the Light of the World. He is our source of light, of life. He is our hope for today, tomorrow and forever. He will never leave us.

God’s faithful promises remain our fortress in the battle when fear and bitterness try to dim the light of hope and truth.

When fear threatens to conceal the light, let us remember to cling to God’s promises that assure us we can trust Him to care for us (Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. I Peter 5:7). Fear is a liar. It tells us we can’t trust God. So, in His strength, let’s call fear’s bluff and place our thoughts on the truth that we are precious to our Father in Heaven.

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

We need also to be careful not to let injustices consume us with bitterness. That’s a trap to pull us into the very darkness we battle. Our approach in response to righteous anger should be to act with love and to do good.

Though we may disagree with one another or may be persecuted for our faith, we are to love with His love.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21

The Branches

Look to the Light.

We must keep our gaze focused on the true Light – our true hope – Jesus. With our first morning whispers, our last thoughts of the day before sleep takes us away and throughout everything we face, may we lean toward our Source of Light, Jesus. It is there where we are secure, in His care, in His love where He will restore and redeem our weary souls. In Heaven, He has prepared a place for all who place their trust in Him where we will live for all eternity with no more sorrow or pain.

I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope He has given to those He called – His holy people who are His rich and glorious inheritance. Ephesians 1:18

Lord, let us follow You. Help us to seek justice, love mercy and walk humbly with You as we live in the light of Your unfailing love and take that light to the world. Amen.

I’ve found that with light also comes warmth. It’s funny, but it can be the same temperature at midnight as it is at noon, but it seems warmer at noon because of the light. Thank you for your thoughts. They cause me to focus on something I may be taking for granted – the light in this case. You are a dear sister, Debi.

I am also so in love with watching things grow, and watching people grow as they “lean toward the light” of our Lord and Savior. The photos were amazing! Thank you for helping me grow In Him and every sunrise will remind me that He is the light.

I would love to hear from you.
